Bicycle Race

Yesterday I was soooooo excited.  I woke up and went out for my morning run.  The run didn't actually happen.  We got to town about 6am, early for me that is for sure.  Everyone was on time!  That never happens.  On my way to town I noticed it was a little bit darker than normal but it was also earlier than normal so I didn't really think anything of it.  Well, every second that passed it got darker and cloudier.  It became very obvious that it was going to rain.  We stood at the door for a few minutes watching to see if maybe we could get in a few miles before the down pour but finally decided against the run and went upstairs and got our Jillian workout done and skipped the run all together.  Might have been the best decision ever.  It started to rain about 5 minutes later.  If we had been running we would have been caught in a downpour thunderstorm.  We ended up getting a good workout but no run.

I didn't have to be at the office all day long yesterday so I was taking the opportunity to do some errands out of town that I have been putting off for months.  I had to take some clothes back and I really wanted to go to Huntsville and look at bikes.  What a perfect opportunity.  It rained on me the entire way down to Huntsville, and the entire time I was doing all my shopping.  The rain and any bike events, I should put 2 and 2 together and just accept the fact that I am not meant to have a bike, but if the rain didn't do it the price tags did.
I got to my first stop, went in to look at the selection and ask some questions.  I went in very upfront about my budget and the fact that I didn't have a lot of money to spend but I had x amount of dollars and was willing to pay all of them to have a bike.  Well, one hour later the girl got done with her entire sales pitch and showed me bikes $150-$200 more than I was going to pay.  (I get it that's what bikes cost, but just tell me in the first 5 minutes that you cannot sell me anything in that price range!!!!!!!!!!!!)  I was irritated that she waisted one hour of my time and there was not a bike in the shop that I could afford.  So I went to another store and was much happier with the guy there.  He gave me the prices up front and didn't waste my time.

So I was a bit disappointed when I got done at the bike shops.  I was really hoping to find something in my price range but no luck.  I hung my head down and went to plan B.  I'm not 100% what plan B is just yet but I'm working on it.  Anyway, I got my shopping and errands done and headed home.  I still had time to run by the office and get through my emails.  Then I baked some cupcakes for work and went to bed.  (I baked cupcakes for work because on Monday I took in a huge array of cupcakes and put a note on them that said "DO NOT EAT OR I WILL HAVE TO KILL YOU" or something like that.  Well nobody ate the cakes and because they were so good I made them their own batch.

Today we did get to run.  It was a wonderful, hot, but wonderful run.  We got in 5 miles this morning.  I was a little slower than I had hoped to be but I did get all my miles in with fewer than normal walk breaks.  I was feeling pretty good post run and I needed that today.  I have had some pretty boring or not so good runs lately so it was nice to have a good one.  And to top it off we finished running and had a wonderful breakfast afterwards.

Then my day went haywire.  I had an entire morning of Real Estate action.  That is very good since the market has been slow.  I loved it.  I was so busy and just running around like a crazy person.  YEA!

I am finishing my night off with no second workout.  I have decided instead to go have a little girls night.  But it will be up bright and early again tomorrow to workout and hopefully have another busy day at work.

And then there's this.....

5 Things that have gone on in the last few days that are totally unrelated to diet/weight loss.  Just weird things, funny things, or things that make me raise one eyebrow and say "Huh?"

1.  I am the proud mama to 3 new kittens that will not come close to me but think they live in my garage. I am not an animal lover, but I was trying to be nice and put something out for them.  BTW, cats do not like soy milk!

2.  This week I discovered why it is that I am single.  I have lost (maybe never had) the ability to flirt.  It really was a tragic experience.

3.  There is a trend in my neighborhood...people take their dogs out for a walk and on more than one occasion I have watched them walk around while carrying their dogs.  Really what is the benefit to the animal.

4.  The fact that it rains every single time I go to do anything on the bike it rains should make me think that a higher power is telling me that I do not need a bike.

5.  Over the last 2 days I have left my car running several times.  Like pull into a parking space, put the car in park, and go inside.  Note that I didn't say turn the car off.  It happened today when I went into my office, I had to run out to grab something, and I am so happy that I did because my car was sitting there running.  REALLY?!?!?!  Who does that?

Would You Rather?

While catching up on some of the blogs I read I came across this one.  It's from Jane at See Jane Run and I thought it would be a fun one to take on.

Would You Rather?
1. Would you rather run for two hours around a putrid smelling landfill or run for two hours in a mosquito infested swamp wearing nothing but a sports bra, split shorts, and shoes?

Landfill, smells go away eventually, but you would have mosquito bites in some very unfortunate places.

2. On a hot summer day would you rather run a marathon barefoot or in snow shoes?

This is a horrible decision either way you look at it. I guess barefoot rather than heavy snow shoes. Either way you are looking at blister fest 2011!

3. Would you rather run 3 miles naked at 5am or 5 miles in a string bikini at 5pm? Location: your daily running route (neighborhood).

First off I run on the highway, not in my neighborhood but I think my answer would be the same either way. I would have to go with NAKED at 5am. There are way fewer people on the road at that time of day.

4. Would you rather finish last in a race, but run your best time or win a race with a very slow time?

I would love to finish first. I have never won a race but unfortunately I have finished last. I think winning would be awesome.

5. Would you rather get caught by race spectators squatting behind a bush to pee mid-marathon or finish on camera with it running down your leg?

Sorry, but I like to run but I am not so serious that I would intentionally pee my pants. I take a crowd over wetting my pants any day of the week.

Lookie What I Got

Remember when I told you guys about the run that I had to tie my shoes 12 times!

Well today I invested 5 bucks in some of those bungee shoe laces. I'll let you know how they work.

Bah Ha Ha

OK, before you think I just disappeared and decided to stop posting hear me out.  The truth is I have posted but I for some reason closed out the post before I hit the magical "publish" button so none of them showed up.  My post on Friday night was probably better that it never made it on to the world wide web.  I had a morning run that was less than stellar, a day that was mostly eh, followed by a pretty intense night workout that was great.  But of course I posted before the magical endorphins of the nightly workout so when I went back and read the post I sound like Eeore from "Pooh" with a dark dreary cloud over my head.  Once the night was done I was in a much better mood and ready rock.  I knew I didn't have to wake up early on Saturday so I stayed up late getting some things organized in my house and actually got so much accomplished.  It ended up being a hugely productive day even though it started with a ho-hum run!

Then on Saturday I had decided that I was not, absolutely not going to workout.  I really felt like my body needed a much needed break and I was going to get a good workout on Sunday.  I needed a little bit of rest.  So I slept in, 9am, I don't know how much in that really was, I was hoping to sleep until 10:30 or 11 but I guess I was caught up.  I then ventured into the yard to start he work that was waiting on me.  We have had lots of thunderstorms with some crazy wind and I had limbs and stuff all over my yard.  I also had trash all over my yard from a garbage can that lost its lid in the storm and has never surfaced since.  I really thought it was going to be somewhat simple but turned out to be an ordeal beyond my imagination.  I ended up having a broken limb in a tree that had to come all the way down, oh it was a mess.

But I finally got it all done.  Picked up, cleaned up, and burned.  Then it was a trip to town to buy a new garbage can so I don't have to pick up trash again.  Then on Saturday night I got into cake baking mode.  It happens from time to time and I decided that I was ready for fondant.  I have been thinking about it for a while and I was officially ready to take on the challenge.  Let's just say it looks way easier on TV but I was able to do it and it came out so cute!

You probably think this would be a child's cake but NO!  That Superman cake you see is for my Pops!  I was really excited with how it turned out and I learned a lot because I had to roll each piece of fondant out 15 times.

On Sunday it was time for the mock tri.  My niece and I both wanted a good workout so it was time to test our limits.  But go figure it started to rain and storm again.  Amazingly every single time I put on my helmet it starts to rain.  This time it let up in time to ride the 6 miles to the gym.  We actually ended up skipping the run part because of the weather and instead swam over twice the distance to make up for it.  It was a good workout.

Then we must talk about my eating this weekend.  To say I fell off the diet wagon would be the understatement of the century.  I ate every single thing I could get my hands on.  I don't really know why either.  I always eat ice cream on Sunday nights.  I watch swamp people with my dad and eat ice cream, but this week I ate ice cream twice on Sunday.  Really twice!!!!  Come on Emily!!!!!!

I know better but it is so easy to get off track!  Every time it does go haywire I just have to sit myself down and have a come to Jesus meeting with myself and get back to the way it should be.  The one thing going for me at this point is that my workouts have been good enough to keep my weight on track, just not losing.  I do have a special 20 pounds that I have put on in the last 3-4 months that I would very much like to see go AWAY!!! I know you are all thinking, "Why don't you stop making cake if you are trying to eat good?" But the truth is I rarely eat the cakes that I make.  This week I have made 2 cakes and 48 cupcakes and only ate one cupcake.  There is something very therapeutic about making the cake and smelling it that keeps me from wanting to eat it.

So wish me luck in getting everything back on track, all at the same time.  Time to get this weight loss journey adventure started back up again.  ( I hate the word journey, Life is a Journey: Weight Loss is an Adventure!)

Honestly I am finding it hard to post today because I have not done anything overly exciting.  I really want to break my day down in bullet points because it would only take 5 or 6 to fill in my entire day.

I'm not going to do it like that because how boring would that be....or interesting!  Let's See!!!!

~  Got up early this morning because I got to bed late.  I forgot every single thing I was supposed to get before I left the house and had to go back inside 3 times before I left.

~  After a gazillion trips in the house, I still forgot 2 things and was late to run.

~  I rocked out 6 miles this morning and the most entertaining thing that happened on the run was my shoe laces came untied about 15 times.

Because of the shoe issue I have immediately starting looking at alternatives.  These are called Lock Laces and I think I am going to give them a try.  If you have used these let me know what you think of them.  I cant spend every step tying my shoes.

~  We managed to finish our run before the down pour and thunderstorms rolled in.

~  I went home and packed my lunch and cooked some crazy amount of chicken for the week.

~  I went to work!

That is one uneventful day.

But my run this morning was a bit disappointing.  I went to running 2:1's to see if I could get my speed up.  I was very unsuccessful in this pursuit.  The first couple of intervals were better than normal but then I got right back into my old pace.  After the run I was pretty sure this was an impossible task to master.  I am feeling better about it now but right after the run I was pretty sure this was a bad idea.

And tomorrow we go back to our Jillian workout.  This day of rest was very relaxing and wonderful and my muscles have enjoyed it.  I am going to work out in the hot tub tonight to see if I cannot relieve the last of the muscle soreness before we start up again.

Have a good night folks.  I wont get in bed before 8:30 tonight but it was nice to get in before 10 last night.  Sooooo rare!

Is 8:30 to Early to Go To Bed???

As I talk about going to bed at 8:30 I have to say that this morning was the first time in 15 days that I got to sleep past 8 o'clock.  I had to be at the office today at 9 so I couldn't do my morning workout at 7 because I couldn't have made it to work on time.  So I gladly went to bed last night knowing that I got to sleep late!!!!!

I did enjoy sleeping in this morning!!! (And I know you are all jealous and that makes it even better)

Well I had one of those days that was all day at the office, then off to the gym for my Jillian workout.  I was a little nervous about tonight's workout after the workout we had last night.  We made it through the workout ok but I thought my workout partner was going to pass out when it was over.  She just didn't handle all those sprints well last night.  But when she came in tonight she said she was feeling good.

I was a little bit early to the gym so I got to shoot basketball to warm up and then up for the Cut workout.  Let's just say tonight was not the hardest workout but not easy either and I am very happy that tomorrow is a rest day!  One of the most painful parts of the workout was sitting on the teeny tiny workout bench seats.  I'm still paying for that bike trip!  Ha Ha

I'm not going to make it to bed after all by 8:30 but I'm thinking if I kick it into high gear that I can get into bed by 9.  I'm not lazy, just exhausted and ready for some more sleep!

Bondi Band Winner

She sent me this a few days ago and I just realized this picture was attached.  Look how cute our lucky winner is!!!!

Flips and Turns and None of Them Planned

So this weekend is precisely the reason I don't plan things out to the exact.  OK well I always plan them out but they rarely ever workout like I planned them.  This weekend I was going to ride the bike.  This was the last weekend with the borrowed bike and I didn't get to ride during the week like I had hoped so I was going to ride both days this weekend and then go to the bike store and look for my own.

I even moved my Saturday work to the early early morning shift so that I could ride and get to Huntsville to look at bikes.  Well, I got off work and went home for a short cat nap, like planned, then got up put on my bike clothes and headed outside.  To my surprise when I hit the front porch, helmet bike and all, I noticed the sky looked a little bit like rain.  It was actually looking pretty rough.  So I called my little Nazi Niece bike partner and told her I was still coming over but I was going to wait for the rain to be over and then we could go.

Well, 5 minutes of sitting on the front porch, still in the helmet and all, I realized that this was actually going to be a pretty bad little storm.  The winds were just whipping around and I could hear limbs hitting the ground and see all my trees swaying.  I started to get a little bit scared and decided I would risk the 2 minute drive to my dad's house so I didn't have to be alone and scared by myself.

So I got in the car, not the bike, and headed over.  As I was driving around my neighborhood I could see that the limbs were actually full grown trees all over the ground but I was going to Dad's so I would be safe there.  And then, I got to the entrance of my subdivision and no luck!  There was a gigantic tree in the middle of the road, impassable, with the power line wrapped up in it.  I called my sis and asked if someone could come pick me up, I would just walk to the end of the road if they would come get me.

The entrance to my subdivision.  Please notice the power line!

Trees down everywhere

When I got over to my dad's I realized that they too had treeS down, and so I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up trees with the rest of the family.  It was a tough job but it has to be done.  So no bike ride, no trip to the bike store.

So on Sunday I thought I could make up for the loss of a whole day on the bike.  It was my brilliant idea to ride our bikes to the gym, on the highway and all, (I put on my big girl panties for this one.  I will run all over the road but the bike on the road scares me.  I put on my big girl panties and dealt with it, I do wish those panties had had a pillow in the tush!) swim and then bike back to the house.  I should mention there is one hill, a one mile hill that I knew would be a doozie and was not sure I could get halfway up much less the entire way up but it seemed like such a good idea.  And it really was.  We pushed ourselves because that was way farther than we had ever gone before, me for sure.  So we got to the gym, 8 miles down.  Hopped in the pool and did 500 yards.  Then back on the bike and headed home.

We started up the hill and in my head I really hoped to get to the halfway point....I failed!  I don't think I got a fourth of the way up the hill before I had to bail off the bike and push it.  I'm not upset at all that I had to push my bike up the hill because this is still very new for me.  Once at the top of the hill it was back on the bike, the soreness beginning to set in, but still going fairly strong.  Mile 16:  Back at the house, the 2nd stop of the trip.  We got a drink and cooled off a little bit.  We wanted to get 5 more miles so that we could finish with 20.  At this point I hated my Nazi Niece bike partner for telling me this was a good idea.  I was really starting to hurt but I did want to do the whole 20.  And we DID!!!!  20 miles and 500 swim.  All in all a great workout and a great training day for the Triathlon.

Post ride, we look pretty good.  I had to put on the shades to cover up the tears.

After we got done, 2 hours later, I was pooped.  I was hurting in all kinds of places, including one very very very special place, and ready to get some food.  By the time I got to watching Swamp People on Sunday night I could hardly keep my eyes open.  I was ready for bed.  And I slept pretty good.

I was up early again this morning to go run.  I had already informed my running buddy that I might be a bit slow today because of my sore body.  When I got out of bed, sore wasn't really the right word, PAIN!  But I slowly loosened up.  Once I got to the steps my back pain was mostly gone and just sore in my legs and my "good girl!"  After taking a few easy laps around the steps my soreness was working itself out even more.

Then we took off to run on solid ground.  It took a little warming up and a few runs and walks but then I kinda got in a groove.  My steps were getting longer and I was not hurting too bad.  Overall we got just under 5 miles and the last 2 were at a good pace.  I even made a deal at the beginning of my run before I knew it would turn out to be a good one that if they were nice to me and my legs I would run 6 one Wednesday.  So I will keep my end of the deal and run 6 one Wednesday, I need to get some higher mileage in over the next few weeks anyway.

I do have one more workout tonight.  We haven't done our Jillian workout today, but we will surely get it in tonight.  And hopefully soon, maybe even next weekend I can get to the bike store and look at getting a bike for myself.  Wouldn't that be Special?!!??

I do have to tell you my one dumb dumb move of the day.  I was getting back on track with my food today.  I took the time to pack up my food for the entire day as well as clean up the clothing hurricane that exploded in my living room this morning.  I got everything pack up and in the car, but that is as far as I made it.  I forgot to take the food out of the 90 degree hot car so by the time it was time to eat dinner my food was ruined.  Money and good food down the drain, grrrr!  Maybe tomorrow I can pack and eat my food.

Must be...

This could be, must be, has to be the funniest bottle of water ever!

It does look bad when your drinking it! Especially in the car.

Come on is that not hysterical! And it's the perfect size ever. My new fave!

By The Way

Thanks for all your suggestions.  The crick in my neck finally resolved itself with the help of a mini massage and the hot tub.  I told y'all the hot tub can cure anything.  The fun part is trying to get your neck in front of the blower thing without drowning!

I Love Her, But I am Beginning to Think That Jillian Is EVIL!

Up to this point of the workout I have just had some mild muscle discomfort.  That all changed after yesterdays workout.  Changed so drastically that it was all I could do not to cancel today's workout.  My entire body hurts!  I have done the Making the Cut workout before and I remember this feeling but it hurts in such obscure places.  Yesterday we had the circuit that had the 5 sprints at 9mph for 30 seconds each.  It seems like it would be no problem but today my Hammies are shot.  They hurt so bad that it is almost not worth sitting down because the chair that I sit on hurts the back of my legs.  I'm hoping the pain is actually my butt running north and away from my legs.  An instant butt lift would be wonderful.

Luckily one of my running buddies has a race tomorrow so this mornings run was much easier than normal.  So easy that we actually ran to a local restaurant and ate breakfast during our run!!!  Haha, we really do have too much fun sometimes.  But then after breakfast it was back to Jillian, uh! Then to add insult to injury we did hill work.

All that really matters is that we did the workout.  I have to tell myself that every time I sit down and stand up.  This is the second time in 2 days that we have done this crazy intense workout and by the end I needed a change of clothes.  We are talking buckets of sweat.  I know sweating is a good thing, heat exchange and all that jazz, but it is also nasty and we have gone to a new level of sweat.  I wonder if it is partially because it is hotter outside and I'm never really getting cooled off or I am just getting in such good shape that my sweat glands cant keep up.  Lets go with the second of those.

Now that I have complained for 3 paragraphs about soreness and sweat I must change gears.  All the pain is worth it with this workout.  First, I feel great when it is over.  It's instant gratification that I was able to get through it.  Second, the change that happens in such a short period of time.  Maybe not obvious to others but I can tell a difference in my arms and my quads are getting bigger.  Ha, I have spent the last 3 years trying to make things smaller but the growing quads are actually nice.  I want some definition and I can see some differences.  Sooooo worth it.  2 and a half more weeks until the wedding that all this hard work is for!

One thing that I have struggled with over the last couple of days is my food.  It has started off good but then slowly gone down hill as the days go on.  I was trying to get it back on track today and so far so good.  We eat breakfast out nearly every morning that we run but amazingly enough I can usually eat pretty healthy.  Eggs are healthy and if I'm feeling spunky I get a biscuit.  Sometimes it depends on how my run with but the last couple of days I got the biscuit anyway, hard run or not.  That's the kind of thing I am talking about with my poor food choices.  But I packed such a good dinner tonight I'm thinking of taking the Senior Citizens role and eating it at 3:30.

Its Been Non-Stop

Who knew that 9 hours at work would be the first break I would get in 2 days.  It has actually been nice to have a seat for just a few minutes.  My last couple of days have been running around trying to get everything in.

Yesterday my morning started off with a Jillian workout.  Some parts easier but for the most part it was so hard.  A small accomplishment from the workout yesterday was the fact that I was able to do all the hill climbs at the 10 incline.  It seems like it would be no problem to do the one minute run but it is so much harder than you think.  And the scariest part is Friday its the same run at a higher incline.  OHHHH, my legs already hurt just thinking about it.  I then managed to get some laps in the pool before work.  I had to get both my workouts in earlier because I had ballgames to get to last night.

My pool workout is always the same.  I am very comfortable with that workout.  Honestly I wish every workout I did was that consistent.  Some days a run seems like any ol run and it can turn out to be the best run ever or worse than a root canal.  But (note the segway) speaking of a good run today would qualify.  I met one of my running buddies early and got in about 2 miles, then 1 mile on the steps (which were brutal and hot this morning) but they are getting better, and then out for a final 3 miles.  The last three were solid running a mix of walk and run but it was a nice 6 mile run for the morning.

Tonight I have a break from the Jillian workout, woo hoo, my body needs rest from all that.  So tonight I am going to another pool workout.  Tonight I need to get in some cardio and I am in desperate need of a hot tub visit.  I have a crick (sp?!?!?  I have no idea how to spell that)  in my neck.  It's not a major injury but it is the most annoying injury in the world.  I have to sit crooked in my chair at work because I cant see the people walking in the door.  Hot tubs cure neck cricks right?!?!?

I have had most of the week off the bike but I have to give it back this weekend so hopefully I can squeeze in one or two more rides by Sunday.  I am planning on riding on Friday after we run and hopefully Saturday as well.  If I don't get to ride on Saturday its because I am going to look at some bikes for myself.  I think after almost a year of thinking about buying a bike I am ready to go look at them, I might buy I might not, cause they are sooooo expensive, but its worth looking.

Oh oh oh I forgot this, did you know in Triathlons they have age groups, and then they have weight groups.  Why oh why are running races not broken down into weight groups????  That is the best idea ever.  I have signed up in the Athena group for girls over 150 but I am seriously thinking about starting my own group, the Cookie Monsters, for girls over 200!!  I would have to be in contention in that group!!!!

Wish me luck in my Quest to Cure the Crick!  I just know the hot tub is the answer!

New Things....I Just Might Like This After All

So I have been giving this bike thing a real shot.  I rode on Friday afternoon for just a few miles and it was not fun.  It was like the last time I rode, awful.  My legs hurt, I couldn't climb hills and it hurt my butt (and my feelings.)  I wasn't going to give up on the first ride and luckily my niece agreed to ride with me again on Saturday for a little longer ride.  I got a chance before we rode to get a crash course in gears, and it made all the difference in the world.  We went out to ride and I managed to make the entire trip, 8 whole miles, without stopping.  My legs hurt, but I was able to climb all the hills, and the butt, WOW!  PAIN!!!!!

I was just excited that this ride went better than before.  And I was pretty excited that I enjoyed it.  I can honestly say I have never had such a fun ride.  And we rode more than the distance that I will have to ride in my Tri.  I decided to do the Sprint Tri for my first one.  Its a shorter distance and if I am going to beat my half time by an hour I need to focus on the running right now, then hopefully I can do the Olympic distance.

My only 2 weekend workouts were bike ones and my tush can definitely tell that was the only workout I got.  But this morning it was back to running.  I met my buddies at the steps but had to ditch the run this morning to teach aerobics.  But have to fear, when they were done running I met up with them for the after run breakfast.  I could have done nothing for the rest of the day and been fine on my calorie burn but we are still doing the Making the Cut workout.

This workout is brutal and it get me fired up for about an hour after I'm done, but tonight about the 3 circuit we both realized that we are getting better.  It still hurts but it is getting better.  I am still amazed at the amount of sweat we produce during this workout.  Between the outside running and biking and then the sweat filled indoor workout I don't know if I will ever be hydrated again.  I am pounding water as fast as I can and I still cant catch up.

I have to go to bed because I have to get up early and do day 6 of the Cut.  I need must get some sleep.  Wonder if I could get an overnight IV drip to rehydrate!  haha, that would be interesting to say the least.

Night folks!

Starting the Day Off Right

This morning started pretty early, but not as early as a run day which makes me very grateful.  I met AC at the gym this morning at 7:00 for our first day of the Making the Cut workout.  I have done this workout a few times in the past, it was my 30 in 30 plan and I have used it since for a pick me up, get back on track workout.  And every time it is just as hard as the time before.

Well we were successful in our workout today and no one cried or puked so it was a major success!
I had to get ready at the gym this morning because I was itching to get to work.  I had to be there at 9am and I wanted to be there a little early so I could do my headband winner before work actually started.  Getting ready at the gym is not my favorite thing to do but since there is no hope for my hair today I figured what could it hurt.  So I did the whole shower get ready at the gym thing, yuck!  I just don't feel fresh if I have to get ready there.  But you do what you gotta do.

I have to work today at the gym today which is not my norm but I get to have Friday off...woo hoo.  That never happens.  And today I get to get this mop cut off my head.  I haven't been able to decide what I wanted to do with it so I have let it grow but I cannot take it any longer.  I'm pretty sure all this extra hair is making me hotter.  So tonight I get my hawk back.  I think the hawk makes me tougher and more BadA** in the gym.

Not sure if I will get an afternoon workout tonight or not but I hope I can squeeze a little cardio in today.

And The Winner IS!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to act like all of those reality shows that makes you wait until the end of the post to find out who wins...hahaha.

So, I got to the office early this morning because I had a workout this morning and I wanted to do my drawing for the winner of the Bondi Band.  So instead of using some crazy number generator I wanted to make this a little bit fun.  I was going to make one of my co-workers draw a winner.  I put all the contest participants in a bucket and had to wait until someone else came in.  I have been sitting here for half an hour waiting.

Don't judge my hair, I'm getting them all cut today!

Now there are finally people at the office so I am taking them to my pal Keith and he will be drawing out the lucky winner.

 Here's Keith...

And his dog, still not sure why the dog came to work?

 And the drawing.......
And the winner is....

EMILY!!!!  When he pulled the name out he thought it was me and he was pretty sure it was rigged, but its not me.    I didn't enter my own contest, but that would have been a good idea!

Congratulations to Emily.  Thank you all so much for entering my contest and I hope to do this again sometime soon.  It has been a lot of fun to meet new people and read some new blogs.

Ok so I keep forgetting my socks for some and now I have a nice blister because of it.

ain't it pitiful!!!

Tonight was no different. So I got my clothes on and my sneaks without socks...and look what turned up in my bag!

By the way they are clean, just straight out of the dryer. Haha!

Just a little bedtime humor.

Getting Ready for Some More

Oh its almost over.  This is the last chance to get in on the Bondi Band Giveaway.  I will have a winner for you sometime tomorrow morning.  I am so excited.  Its been fun getting to read all of your comments...I'm amazed at how many people think their eyeballs sweat.  Common comment, but not the point.  I am pretty sure the headband will help with your eyeball sweat.

This morning we went for a run again.  I don't normally run 2 days in a row.  It makes me sore for one, but also my knee doc said I should rest between runs so I don't over do it on the knee and cause any injury.  Well after our super fast run this morning I am understanding a little better what he was talking about.  I'm not sure I can blame it all on 2 days in a row.  This morning we went back to running steps.  My running buddy and I both agree that it is one of the best workouts we do to become stronger faster runners.  And today I could tell it has been months since I ran those steps.  At one point I was pretty sure I had developed asthma.

My late night buddy came too....and she was not happy about it.  She somehow missed the memo on Tuesday's run that we were meeting at the steps.  She said if she had known that she would have skipped today.  But she was able to do it too but she did develop asthma halfway through as well.

Then we went out for our run.  The idea was to get 5 miles total.  We already had one from the steps so 4 to go.  I decided that since we already did steps then we might as well make this a hill run day.  Ohhhhhh.  My legs and butt can tell I climbed up too many hills.  I normally don't run hill but now that I am on this become a faster runner thing I decided to give them a shot.  I would run as far as I could and then walk the rest and I did a little better than I expected I would do.  It still hurt like HELL but I did it.  The other 2 run the hills like they are nothing, crazy girls.

So the morning run was a success.  We ended up getting around 6 miles.  My watch was not cooperating properly so I don't have an exact mileage but I was somewhere in the 5.5-6 miles, and parts of the run were at the 10:30 pace (My watch told me I was running a 16 minute mile the entire run) that I must keep to make my goal.  They were short parts but I need to know what that pace feels like so I can start adjusting for it.

I wanted to go home and ice a little bit and get a little rest on my already sore legs but that just wasn't in the cards today.  I went to go pick up my borrowed bike after my run.  I got it all the way home and just couldn't stand not to ride it so I took one loop around the neighborhood.  I really have no opinion on biking one way or the other yet but it was a little bit easier than trying to ride a mountain bike on the road so hopefully I can get the hang of this.  And I didn't wreck which is an absolute miracle.  I'm a little bit scared of riding on the road.  I know it sounds crazy to some but I feel totally fine running on the road but taking that bike out there makes me freak a little bit.  I'm going to stick to back roads for a while till I'm a little more comfortable.

For the rest of the day I have taken it a little bit easy.  I worked and rested because tonight I have to get my weights in.  It is already Wednesday and I have not lifted yet this week.  Then tomorrow my late night buddy and I are starting back up with the Making the Cut workout.  We are 30 days out from "the Wedding" that we have been working so hard to look good for and its time to start the final transformation.  This workout is so good for me but I dread it just a little bit.  Every time I think about it I have flashbacks of laying on the floor exhausted and knowing that there are 2 more circuits to go!  Tears!!!!!

But we must do it so we will look good in strapless dresses on wedding day....btw I am not in the wedding and I do not have to wear anything special but I have had fun training for this wedding like I did.

So come back tomorrow and see how the first bike ride goes, if I survive it, and see who will be the lucky winner of the Bondi Band.

This Is Your LAST Chance!!!

Today is the last day to enter to win the Bondi Band.  Right now there are a few of you so your chances are still pretty good.  DON'T FORGET TO ENTER TODAY!!!!

I will announce the winner tomorrow!

Sick Sick Girl!

Wow!  I was not expecting a stomach virus over the weekend but that is exactly what I got.  It wasn't even the weekend just Sunday night.  Needless to say I swapped my running shoes for a garbage can beside the bed this morning.  Things just seemed to workout right.  Last week we decided that we were not going to run on Monday morning because of other plans and I am so glad I didn't have to bail on my running buddies, but there was no way I could have run this morning.  It actually took me until about 3pm  to feel better.  But now my stomach bug is gone, and I'm back!

Today was supposed to start my hardcore training for my 2 big events coming up.  I already told you about the record breaking world record half marathon time that I want to achieve.  Otherwise known as 2:15! But I am also in training mode for my first triathlon.  I have been working very hard on my swimming portion of the race, I am ready for the running portion, but I have not yet mastered that whole bike part.  I have given away so many bikes over the year because I hate riding the bike so that is obviously the part I need to work on.  I have spent a lot of time on the stationery bike at the gym but I have not yet tried it out on the open road.  Well today I finally asked a friend who I know is going on vacation if I could use her bike for a few days before I purchase one that is very expensive and hate it.  She agreed so I will get to ride a real bike for a few days to get a feel for it and know what I want out of a bike, and if I still hate it I can rent one for the big day and never have to ride it again.  I want to do a tri sooooo bad, its on my bucket list for this year and I am going to have to get ready.  I really want a sticker!

Ok, maybe that one is a bit inappropriate so how about this one....

That's Better!  It's all about the sticker!

So my training schedule for the tri is on my fridge door and my running faster plan will hopefully all that training will help with my speed for the half.  These are 2 very big goals for me and I hope I can achieve them both.  I am way more nervous about this triathlon thing because I don't know what to expect.

That's really all I have for you guys today because up to this point I have done nothing but try to stay very still and get completely well.  I think I'm all better now but I don't want to chance anything.

Hey, and don't forget.  The giveaway for the Bondi Band ends on Wednesday so go and enter now!

Im a Runaway!

I really haven't run away, I'm just so busy running around that I cant seem to find the time to post.  I didn't post Wed because I wanted my giveaway to be the first thing on my blog and if I posted something new it would push it down the page. (BTW thanks for entering guys, I'm so excited to give it away) Then yesterday I went off the grid for a day.  Ok again not completely true being that I worked from my phone all day but I never sat down to a computer so how the world could I post anything.....

That being said you know that I have a lot to say today.

Let's see if I can remember everything.

For starter I went for a hot morning run on Wednesday with my usual running buddy, my late night workout buddy and a friend...I haven't given her a name yet.  We did a 6am run, way to early, and it was already nearly 80 degrees, way to hot.  It was a pretty good run.  My late night workout buddy has decided and registered for her very first Half Marathon.  I am so proud.  She swore she would never do one and lookie now.  So I am thinking she will be a pretty regular staple in our morning runs.  She talked about this run that she is doing that I think I have been convinced.  I thought about it all day long, its a Women's Half Marathon.  I like the concept of all women and the fact that I have finally found one that I can have the time to actually train for...I usually decide 3 weeks before that I am going to run one and then I am not as ready as I would like to be.

The longer the day went on while I was trying to decide on the run the more I liked the longer training period.  Then I thought, if all goes well with training this could be the race that I set a huge time PR.  I really want to beat my first Half Marathon time by 1 hour.  Its a goal that I am still having trouble getting my mind around.  It would put me running a 2:15 half.  Oh that is way faster than I am running now and faster than I ever really thought about running.  But how cool would it be to beat my time by an hour!!!!!!  So I'm still bouncing that idea around.

Then on Thursday I worked and ran around all day.  Then, last night I went to Fleet Feet and we graduated from our NoBo program.  My whole team were finishers and I was very happy that we didn't have a bunch that quit.  We got a good discount at the store for participating in the program and I have been waiting for 2 weeks for this night so I could get some new running shorts.  I have been saying for weeks that I was going to buy every pair they had in my size.

Seriously this was the first item on my list!!!!

I held true to my promise.  I got 3, oh yes, 3 pairs of shorts.  That make 4 pair total, which mean I can wear 2 pair every day and still only have to wash every other day.  I don't know what I will do with myself.  I had been wearing my one pair in the morning, drying them and wearing them again in the evening.  4 PAIR!!!!!  I got one pair that was a little different than the norm because they only had 2 of the ones I love but I wore the new ones this morning and they are gonna work just fine too.  Thanks Moving Comfort!

We also got some killer deals last night.  That always makes shopping more fun.  I was beginning to feel a little guilty about spending money on workout clothes when my regular wardrobe is struggling so badly.  I went to the Goodwill and got 2 pair of khaki shorts and then my sister, Sister 1 and my friend both gave me tons of clothes to go through and try.  Now I have about 20 pairs of shorts but I don't know if any of them will be as comfortable as my Goodwill shorts.  Now, shirts!

We finally got done with out shopping extravaganza and got home late.  I may have gotten 5 hours of sleep when it was time to go run this morning.  I felt like I was running in 6 inches of sand.  My legs were so heavy and I was sooooo tired.  We went so early that I was able to go home and get a little nap before my day today.   I have a super busy next few days.  I had to work today, then work at the gym then tonight is an all nighter at Relay for Life, then I have to be back at the gym at the crack of freakin dawn to work again and I am too old to be pulling all nighters anymore.

And one final thing....

My sister, Sister #2, and I bought my niece the cutest little birthday present ever and I just have to share.  She got some Nike Tempo shorts and a Jog bra belly shirt.  How cute is this?!?!

She did not start the meal off like this but after she opened her present we assured her and her mom that it was an appropriate outfit for dinner.   When we were leaving I asked my sister, "what kinda mom dresses her child like that?"  With a quick response I got, "Her Aunts!!!"  Ha Ha Ha  I hope she wears it all summer long.

Ill try to get on here again before the weekend is over but I am not making any promises for tomorrow, the goal tomorrow is to find time to sleep.
